Ask Tia Tuesday

This week's Ask Tia Tuesday question is from Lydia M. Lydia asks:

Hi Tia. I've got peeling dry skin and makeup doesn't look good on me. I've tried every moisturizer under the sun but my skin is still dry. While I'm on my quest to get this issue resolved, do you know of anything I can use to make my makeup look good?

Hi Lydia! Thanks for your question. Our skin is the canvas on which we create masterpieces. Proper skincare ensures the masterpieces we create are flawless. I am not an esthetician so I can't give you a medical reason as to why you are experiencing dry, flaky skin, but I will suggest that you adopt a skincare regimen that includes regular exfoliation to help remove dead skin cells from your face. I recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub which I use on a regular basis to clear away dull, dry skin. I also recommend looking into microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion will help to improve both the texture and tone of your skin. It gently removes the dead layer of skin from your face and leaves you with smooth, radiant skin. I'm a fan of microdermabrasion and get it once every year to revive my skin. Also, drinking lots of water can help quench dry skin from the inside out. Well hydrated skin is the best palette for any makeup application.

Ask Tia Tuesday

Today's Ask Tia Tuesday is from Quanna S. Quana asks:

Hello Tia,
My question is, what is the best type of facial scrub I can use. My face has been very dry lately and I'm pretty sure my pores are clogged. I don't wear makeup very often. I've tried a few different soaps, cleansers and lotions, but none have worked so far. What can I do to get my face soft and smooth again?

Hi Quanna! Although, I am not an Esthetician I would be more than happy to give you some advice to hopefully get you some better results. I would first recommend drinking more H2O to keep the skin hydrated. You mentioned the need for a facial scrub and I have the perfect one for you it's by Aveeno, which is an amazing scrub that's gentle and non-abrasive to the skin. Definitely make sure to moisturize your skin twice a day to keep your skin hydrated. Since you mentioned clogged pores, I would look into getting a skin analysis at a spa so you can get specialty treatment. Hope my bit of advice helps!

Ask Tia Tuesday

This Tuesday's Ask Tia question comes from Treneshia F. Treneshia says:

"I have a problem with black marks, dry areas, and "blah" facial skin! What products can I use to clear & brighten my skin? Or would microdermabrasion work as well?"

There could be a number of reasons why you are experiencing dry skin. I would highly suggest keeping your skin thoroughly hydrated by drinking more H2O and by incorporating a moisturizer twice a day. Let me also suggest using a facial scrub once a week to brighten, clarify and to remove dull, dry skin to reveal a more lustrous silky smooth texture. I'm a huge advocate for microdermabrasion however, I only get the treatment once a year. Please do your research and contact a skincare specialist with all of your questions/concerns before you get microdermabrasion. Ambi also has a great fade cream that can be found at your local drugstore. Wish your skin well!!
