The Sweetest Day to wear RED LIPS!

Sweetest Day can be the perfect date night to rock red lips and feel hot & sexy. Whether you like an understated look or more of a statement, you can rock a red lip for any occasion. If you really want to make a statement on your date I suggest a BOLD creamy lipstick with full on intensity with a shine. For the newbie red lip wearers, I recommend going for a more subtle look by wearing a lipgloss for a undefined look to your lips. Matte red lips are really hot this season so play and have fun. Then add some flirty lashes to bring some definition to your eyes and balance off your look.

Some of my "red lip" recommendations are:

MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

Chanel Rogue Allure Lacque in Coromandel

Nars Matte Lip Pencil Red Square

Blogalicious 2010 was Social Media's dream conference. When I found out I was going to be in attendance on behalf of Johnson & Johnson, I was highly anticipating this conference. Being a newbie blogger, this was the perfect event to get educated, network and build relationships with fellow bloggers. Words can not explain the feeling I felt while I was there nor the connections that were made. Not only did I get a chance to meet so many of my fellow bloggers and twitter friends, I had the opportunity of giving them mini makeup consultations prepping them for their close up with the photographer. I was also so happy to have met and worked with the create rs of Blogalicious for their live taping with Soledad O'Brien on CNN. I left with questions answered, a revelation and many new friends in the bloggers world.

Our swag bags were all the about gifts in abundance! Some of the gracious sponsors were, J & J, Bali, Carol's Daughter, Kellogg's and countless others. I'm looking forward to being apart of the next Blogalicious event in 2011 so see YOU there! Here's some pictures for your enjoyment

Ask Tia Tuesday

I am so excited about “Ask Tia Tuesday”! My first question is from Jaime W. Jamie says:

“I have a question about lipstick or lip colors.
Are there "rules" for the colors. In other words,
should light or fare skinned women only
wear certain colors and stay away from others?

Or does it matter on the size and shape of her lips?
I like red and plums but as a light
skinned women with full lips, they draw attention. Thanks.

Rocking a bold lip is the latest trend in the beauty and fashion world. A bold lip is trendy no matter the size or shape of the lips. There are those who feel that certain skin tones should stay away from certain colors, but it is simply not true. You can wear any color, but it is all about HOW your wear it. Contrary to popular belief, every complexion can wear pink, red, plums, etc. The trick is finding a shade that matches your skin tone.
Sometimes finding the perfect shade (of pink, plums, red, etc.) can be achieved simply by
mixing colors and/ or adding lip gloss to get a color that is suited for you and the look that your going for. If you are not comfortable mixing lip colors, try going to a cosmetic counter to get a second opinion. They should also have a color wheel on hand that helps you find the perfect lipstick shades that work best for your complexion. If you get home and for some reason you don’t like the color, as long as you have the receipt, you can return it and try a different shade.
Bold lips are attention grabbers! That’s why they call them BOLD. But if you’d like to take your full lips down a notch while wearing a bold color consider using a lip liner that is a couple shades darker than your lip color. Also, avoid wearing frosty lip colors because they reflect light and lips might appear larger. Night-time is the perfect time to experiment with BOLD colors as oppose to a day-time look.
Whatever lip color you choose to wear you have to rock it with confidence. Thanks for your question, Jaime!
If you have a beauty question that you’d like me to answer, send an email to and it might be chosen for an upcoming blog!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer. Contrary to popular belief, it effects both men and women. The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimated that there would be 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States. An estimated 40,170 women were expected to die from the disease in 2009 alone. Though these statistics sound grim, there is hope! Today, there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States. Studies have shown that the best way to beat this disease is early detection and leading a healthy lifestyle.
"We are now more certain than ever that by maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active and limiting the amount of alcohol they drink, women can dramatically reduce their risk," says Dr. Martin Wiseman of the American Institute for Cancer Research. "We estimate that almost 40 percent of breast cancer cases in the United States, or about 70,000 cases every year, could be prevented by making these straightforward everyday changes," added Susan Higginbotham also of American Institute for Cancer Research. Many studies have shown a low-fat diet, regular exercise, keeping a lean weight and breastfeeding babies can prevent breast cancer. However, a significant percentage of cases are caused by faulty genes and not linked to lifestyle.
I am doing my part to spread the word about this disease and its prevention! Promoting breast cancer awareness and supporting cancer research are sure-fire ways that we all can do our part in ending this disease.
Stores like Sephora have decided to join in the fight. Sephora is contributing a percentage of their profits of cancer-awareness themed beauty products to various organizations that support cancer research and/ or offer support to cancer patients and survivors.
Together we can make a difference in the fight against this ugly disease. For more information about cancer and helpful tips on how to prevent this disease, please visit American Institute for Cancer Research’s website
