Ask Tia Tuesday

I am so excited about “Ask Tia Tuesday”! My first question is from Jaime W. Jamie says:

“I have a question about lipstick or lip colors.
Are there "rules" for the colors. In other words,
should light or fare skinned women only
wear certain colors and stay away from others?

Or does it matter on the size and shape of her lips?
I like red and plums but as a light
skinned women with full lips, they draw attention. Thanks.

Rocking a bold lip is the latest trend in the beauty and fashion world. A bold lip is trendy no matter the size or shape of the lips. There are those who feel that certain skin tones should stay away from certain colors, but it is simply not true. You can wear any color, but it is all about HOW your wear it. Contrary to popular belief, every complexion can wear pink, red, plums, etc. The trick is finding a shade that matches your skin tone.
Sometimes finding the perfect shade (of pink, plums, red, etc.) can be achieved simply by
mixing colors and/ or adding lip gloss to get a color that is suited for you and the look that your going for. If you are not comfortable mixing lip colors, try going to a cosmetic counter to get a second opinion. They should also have a color wheel on hand that helps you find the perfect lipstick shades that work best for your complexion. If you get home and for some reason you don’t like the color, as long as you have the receipt, you can return it and try a different shade.
Bold lips are attention grabbers! That’s why they call them BOLD. But if you’d like to take your full lips down a notch while wearing a bold color consider using a lip liner that is a couple shades darker than your lip color. Also, avoid wearing frosty lip colors because they reflect light and lips might appear larger. Night-time is the perfect time to experiment with BOLD colors as oppose to a day-time look.

Whatever lip color you choose to wear you have to rock it with confidence. Thanks for your question, Jaime!
